Bella Blu Boutique was a selfish creation. Michelle Thelen started the business as a result of frustration—of having to travel for a great handbag, high-end denim or just something that was unique.

As a little girl Michelle would go to work with her grandmother and spend time matching outfits together at the age of three. Everyone was amazed! Years went by…but Michelle’s love of fashion never waned. In fact, spending all of her adult life in sales, business travel enabled Michelle to visit many high-end, fun, fabulous boutiques.

In 2004, Michelle married Sam. Very anxious to have children, they knew trying to have a baby would be difficult while continuing her sales career with the amount of travel that was required. They decided this was a great time to begin their next adventures: a new baby and a new store, inspired by ones Michelle has frequented in her travels, but designed by Michelle herself with the sophisticated, swanky modern woman in mind.

Together with her two favorite fabulous females, daughter Jessica, an MSU retailing student, and newborn Kanin, Michelle has brought Bella Blu to all the incredible fashionistas in Michigan. They are asked everyday, "When will you open your next boutique?"
